Situated in Pasadena's historical district, the latest BJ's Restaurant is a highly detailed, warm environment that honors the history of the building while providing a high energy, family-friendly dining experience. Housed in a historical landmark dating from1925 the restaurant had to both honor the existing architecture while at the same time establishing the BJ's brand. Careful consideration had to be given to the exterior in order to meet rigid design standards set in place by the Design and Historic Preservation Department of Pasadena. The interior proved to be equally challenging while creating an infrastructure supportive of intense utility usage that pertains to the restaurant environment while maintaining historically significant interior detailing. In the end the standard BJ's millwork, lighting and furnishings were redesigned to complement the 1925 era architecture and ultimately feel as if they were always part of the building.
